Bathroom Remodel
This client had an older, builder grade master bath that they wanted to make into a master oasis. They wanted to have a larger walk in shower with an overall custom spa feel. To accomplish this we shifted the tub into the corner so that the shower could be expanded and glass blocks were used to create a separation wall for the shower. To increase the bathroom functionality, the small, short, tub that took up a lot of space was eliminated and replaced by a larger, taller tub that took up less space and allowed for the shower size to increase. The shower has a bench and multiple shower heads to give it a spa-like feel. We also relocated the linen cabinet location to create more floor space around the vanity area. The high ceiling was enhanced by the angles of the bathing areas and the contrast of the dark tile and light painted walls. The use of dark natural colors gave the bathroom an earthy feel with a combination of modern and traditional fixtures and finishes. The floor, shower and tub deck/skirt tiles varied in shading to give the space a unique character.
To achieve the spa feel the clients wanted, we utilized brown earth-tone tiles, paired that with a light tile floor and then used high quality modern cabinets with framed mirrors and accent lighting. The glass blocks function as wonderful separation between the shower, tub, and dressing area and provide an interesting water-like look that adds to the Zen feel of the spa retreat.
