McKnight Residence Exterior Remodel The McKnight's have lived in their home for several years. A previous owner had converted the front porch into a room with a flat roof and a low ceiling. They wanted to redo the room and have it add to the look of the house instead of taking away from the home's appearance. They did not want to redo the entire front of the house.
The neighborhood had several homes with steep gables on the front and stone veneers, so we created a 14/12 pitch roof line and used stone to make it more like the surrounding homes. We used cultured stone so that we could maximize the width of the interior space and also used it to cover the chimney without major structural expense. We used vinyl windows to give the house a low maintenance wood look.
We removed the original structure including the original concrete porch cap. We built on top of the existing pier and beam foundation that was tied to the rest of the house and surrounded by a concrete porch that they wanted to keep. The original footage of the house stayed the same, but great cosmetic and functional value was added.
This project won the 2007 National Association of the Remodeling Industry, Dallas, Contractor Of The Year award for a exterior under $100,000. |
